EBV – prevention and therapy

I was selected in 2023 to do the 12 covers of the year for The Lancet Neurology. This is the May illustration cover about preventions of Epstein-Barr as a cause of multiple sclerosis.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) as a cause of multiple sclerosis: opportunities for prevention and therapy.
EBV infection is a necessary previous step for developing the disease, but not sufficient: most people become infected with EBV, but many of us never develop multiple sclerosis. Vaccination against EBV could prevent the disease since infection is an important step in the development of multiple sclerosis. Other strategies are proposed to prevent the factors that lead to the development of the disease.
