Advances in epilepsy by Human Brain Project

I was selected in 2023 to do the 12 covers of the year for The Lancet Neurology. This is the May illustration cover about the Human Brain Project’s progress in virtual brain models and their clinical use in patients with severe epilepsy.

Virtual models allow the creation of a virtual brain specific to each patient in order for epileptologists to decide what type of brain surgery should be applied if the patient requires it. The virtual brain allows to estimate with great precision the extension and organization of the epileptic core, creating more precision and safety in neurosurgical interventions.
Electroencephalogram recordings are essential to record the brain activity on which the virtual brain models are based.
